careers.jnj.com refresh

With a new jnj.com CMS ecosystem came new UI and content possibilities. The careers section portion needed attention, UX design and content design. I was responsible for the user flow and user experience of the careers homepage, from wireframe to visual content concepts. I led our internal design team to accomplish this quickly and proposed a new approach to the careers page. Our challenge was to work within the new constraints of the corporate CMS and provide job seekers a view into Johnson and Johnson, showcasing the messaging pillars of our employer brand.

Designing for two user stories: Active Candidates & Passive Candidates

It was important that this layout work for both active and passive candidates. Active candidates who are further along in their job search need to find a specific opportunity or job posting that works quickly for them. The prominent positioning of the search bar was of highest importance for active candidates. Passive candidates may not have considered working at J&J before or applying to a position. The content below the search bar works as a discovery tool for the passive candidate. We proposed a visual strategy that was warm, inviting, and authentic. The hero image at the top serves both audiences hoping to welcome and inspire. Most prominently, real employee stories that engage the viewer and help them see what life at J&J is really like. For those that scroll furthest down the page, the priority is to build trust. Viewers who scroll for more content can see what people are saying around the web about working at the company.
